Privacy Policy

Overview
Simple WiFi Scanner is a local-only WiFi analysis tool for Android. It does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. All information stays on your device.
Permissions
The app requests the following permissions:
- Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION) — Required by Android to perform WiFi scans. The app uses your location solely to retrieve nearby WiFi access point information. On Android 13 and above, the NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES permission is used instead.
- WiFi State (ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_STATE) — Used to read WiFi scan results and trigger scans.
- Network State (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) — Used to detect the currently connected WiFi network.
The app does not access your GPS coordinates. Location permission is an Android platform requirement for WiFi scanning and is used exclusively for that purpose.
Data Storage
The app stores the following data locally on your device:
- Access point aliases — Custom names you assign to WiFi networks, stored in a local database.
- App preferences — A small number of settings (e.g. whether the first-launch tip has been shown).
This data never leaves your device. Uninstalling the app removes all stored data.
Data Collection & Sharing
Simple WiFi Scanner:
- Does not collect any personal information
- Does not transmit any data over the internet
- Does not include any analytics, advertising, or tracking frameworks
- Does not have internet access (the INTERNET permission is not requested)
Third-Party Services
The app does not integrate any third-party services, SDKs, or libraries that collect user data.
Children's Privacy
The app does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
